How to choose an electric fireplace

The location, heating power, and control are the deciding factors. A free-standing fireplace can simply be placed and plugged into a socket. Bern wall-mounted models are hung on the wall, while the Aarau II can do both. Heating power is switchable in two stages. The smallest Brügge heats at 600/1 200 W. Tessin, Malmö, Wien II, and Bern models have 900/1 800 W settings. Aarau II and Como reach 2 000 W on the higher setting.

A thermostat maintains the set temperature in the room and is featured in the Aarau II, Bern, and Wien II. On the Wien II model, you can set it in the range of 16-30 °C. Remote control and a dimmer for the flame effect are available on the Aarau II, Bern, Tessin, and Wien II models. On the Aarau II, Bern, and Malmö fireplaces, the flame glows independently of the heating, so the fireplace can be used purely for decoration.

Which version to choose

• Bern wall-mounted fireplaces 100, 130, and 150 differ in panel length. They feature a sheet steel body, a thermostat, a timer, and an LED flame effect in three colours.
• Fireplaces with a surround Tessin white, Tessin black, Malmö, and Wien II white resemble a classic fireplace, with a faux-wood surround. Tessin has a glass storage surface on top, and Wien II has a drawer. The controls for all three are hidden behind a cover.
• Compact bodies like the Brügge and Como are suitable for smaller rooms. Brügge has an MDF cover and weighs 3.8 kg, while Como is made of sheet steel and heats up to 1 000/2 000 W.
• Aarau II is controlled via a touch LCD display or remotely. It offers a weekly timer, 12 flame colour modes, and 13 backlight modes. You can hang it on the wall or place it on legs.

Diffuser and fireplace fan

The Roherin aromatic diffuser is not a heater. It is a fragrance lamp with an LED flame effect, an air humidifier, and a timer, controlled by buttons or a remote control. The Farin thermoelectric fireplace fan, on the other hand, is intended for use on a fireplace or wood-burning stove, not in an electric fireplace. It is powered by heat from 60 °C and distributes warm air throughout the room without needing an electrical connection.
