Which tool for which job
For wood, the head weight is what matters. 1 and 2 kg splitting mauls have wooden handles; the one-kilo one is for smaller logs, the two-kilo one can do tougher ones. The 2.7 and 3.6 kg splitting mauls have glass-fibre handles and split even hard logs. The 800 g pro axe is for common work around the house, and the set of three axes (600, 1250 and 2000 g) can do fine work and splitting. For odd pieces, put on a splitting wedge and hit it with a hammer or mallet. Logs are held by a sawhorse with a load of 150 kg, and a branch is shortened by a saw with a hook that keeps the blade in the cut.
For greenery, the thickness of the branch is what matters. Garden shears with 30 and 40 mm blades cut live shoots by hand, and long-reach geared shears cut branches around 50 mm and reach the top without a ladder. Rake up leaves with rakes with an adjustable width from 19 to 60 cm. Hand rakes, cultivators, hoes, trowels and weeders belong in beds and boxes. The kneeler turns into a stool when flipped and holds 120 kg. You will find sprayers and foil covers in Plant Growing and Care.
