What are Copper Prismatic Springs used for?

They are used to maximise the heat exchange surface area between the distillate vapours and the phlegm flowing down the column. The high thermal coefficient of copper reduces the energy consumption required to heat and maintain process stability.

During fermentation, undesirable sulphur-containing compounds are produced in distillation boilers and mash as by-products. Copper absorbs them and prevents them from entering the distillate. This eliminates the unpleasant smell of hydrogen sulphide, catalyses the decomposition of esters and absorbs ethyl carbamate. In addition, copper is bacteriostatic, which is of great importance in the production of food distillates.

Attention!

Before first use, the springs should be rinsed with 3% hydrogen peroxide with the addition of citric acid, or washed in hot water with detergent and rinsed.
